ACR Registered Breeders
The ACR is requiring compulsery DNA testing for
Canine Multifocal Retinopathy CMR1
of the Sire / Dam prior to a mating
in Aussie Bulldogs , British Bulldogs and French Bulldogs
predominatly this is in the coloured Imported Lines though we do encourage all breeds to be tested.
If Sire and Dam are clear than future pups are cleared by parentage
Pups that are carriers will be on limited papers. Can be bred from but will require to go back to a clear dog/ bitch
Pups born from a carrier parent if breeders choose not to DNA test will automatically go on limited papers . When they come of age to breed they must be DNA tested prior to a mating .
I know other Registeries and Clubs automatically go on Mains but the ACR is trying to educated breeders and puppy buyers that if you produce or buy a carrier pup than it needs to be bred correctly to prevent affected pups from being born.
Australia doesnt have a big enough genetic pool to throw out the carrier so lets EDUCATE ...DNA test and and not be FEARFUL of the results.
Advertise if your stud dog / bitch is a carrier.
Thanks and have a great day !!
